Giant Angus MacAskill Museum

Directions:
Located 2.5km off Highway 105 on Route 312 in Cape Breton.

Description:
The MacAskill museum contains artifacts that once belonged to the Cape Breton giant, Angus MacAskill. Angus was 7 feet & 9 inches tall and lived in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia in the 1800s.

This museum (operated by "The Giant MacAskill Heirs Association) contains many items that once belonged to this larger than life human being. Some of the items visitors will find when they visit the museum are his clothes, bed, chair and walking sticks. There are also many other artifacts from the area in the 1800s to be found at this museum.

MacAskill's grave can be found in the nearby Englishtown cemetery. He died in 1863 and his original tombstone has since been replaced (about 50 years after his death) by a new maker that the provincial government at the time put in it's place as the old one had fallen into dis-repair.

Another great spot to visit in Cape Breton if your interested in learning more about the area's history and about this giant.
