Description:
Fort Anne is located on the oldest town street in Canada . It's a place to step back in time and to feel the wind on your face blowing down over the green grassy hills. The fort is a huge attraction by it's own right, but the grassy hills and other structures surrounding the grounds are worth a bit of exploration as well.
The white building is hard to miss and is worth a closer look. From the grassy hillsides you can get a number of different view points on the building. All of which are very intriguing, but the real attraction is inside. When you tour this building you are shown a lot of the local history and given a feel for how things used to be.
After touring the building and some other structures we walked down through the old gates. They took us into the green grassy hills and fields surrounding this fortress. You can't help but feel like you're walking through time as you come out the other side and look at the view.
We walk up a grassy hill to get a closer look at a cannon that would have been used to help defend the fort from the enemy. The position on top of this hill is a great spot to see the enemy coming into the bay.
The grounds around the fort are filled with paths, picnic spots, monuments and other structures, including a stone wall that lines the bottom of some of the grassy hills. Fort Anne is well worth a visit for some info and history on life in the Annapolis region.
